Get Involved

If you enjoy Left Turn magazine, our website and events, there are many ways to get involved. We are always looking for organizers and activists that want to put time into a project that is creating forums for discussion, reflection and strategizing in and between social movements in the US. As well as getting a subscription, helping distribute the magazine, making a donation or supporting our events, there are many ways to get more deeply involved in the work of Left Turn. Below is info about Left Turn working groups that you can get involved with along with their email contacts. If you are interested in plugging in or would like more information, send an email to the listed address with a little information about who you are, why you are interested in working with Left Turn, and what experience or skills you bring that are relevant to the work you want to get involved in.

Website Collective: This year we transitioned to a new website allowing us to update content more quickly and have video and audio capabilities. While we advance on the technical end, we are also building the editorial collective for the site to refine the goals for the site and to solicit and edit articles, interviews and activist reports. We especially need people with technical skills who can help maintain the site and folks interested in the editorial aspect of the site. website(at)leftturn.org

Finance/Fundraising Collective: Fundraising is vital to sustaining Left Turn, so we are working to build our base of individual donors, coordinate fundraising mailings and phone-banks, seek grant funding, and organize fundraising events. Distribution Team: The distribution team both works with official distribution companies and coordinates grassroots distribution through mailings and deliveries to activists and organizations across the country. We are looking for local distributors to who distribute Left Turn to organizations in their community as well as people to help us identify and increase distribution to social justice organizations across the country. distribution(at)leftturn.org

Local Collectives: Left Turn also has local collectives in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York that plan political and fundraising events, coordinate local distribution, and hold discussions to talk about the organizing work we engage in.
