Left Turn magazine is sold at progressive bookstores and newsstands across the United States. Subscriptions and back issues are available on this website. However, we rely on organizers from a range of movements in towns and cities throughout the country to get most of the copies into the hands of other activists, organizers, and insurgents. The Left Turn collective intends for the magazine to serve as a tool—to help progressive and radically minded people develop consciousness and analysis, and to help build understanding and collaboration between movements and organizations of the left. Therefore, we prioritize making the magazine as accessible as possible while ensuring the project remains financially sustainable. We have adopted a number of initiatives to further these goals.

Free Bulk Copies for Community Organizing Groups and Allied Organizations

Left Turn is excited to provide free copies of the magazine to community organizing efforts, workers centers, and other groups involved in front line social justice struggles. The Coalition of Immokolee Workers, The Miami Workers Center, Detroit Summer, Just Cause Oakland, and other groups currently use Left Turn as an important resource for networking, political education, and staying abreast of international movements and events. Free Subscriptions for Prisoners

Left Turn is happy to provide reduced cost and free subscriptions to incarcerated individuals who share or are interested in exploring the magazine’s politics. We encourage a donation of sixteen First Class stamps from those behind bars who can provide them. However, subscriptions will be provided free of cost to prisoners without access to money or stamps. Friends and supporters of prisoners are encouraged to purchase prisoner gift subscriptions at full price, whenever possible, as a means of supporting the program.

Activist Distributor Program

We need your help to expand the reach of Left Turn and the politics it promotes. To this end, we have developed an Activist Distributor program that makes it easy for supporters to receive bulk copies of the magazine each time a new issue is released (approximately every three months). Distributors determine how many copies they will be able to circulate locally and pay only $1 per copy to Left Turn to cover printing and shipping costs. Magazines are mailed with an invoice and payment is expected before the next issue is shipped. Activist distributors can then give copies away or sell the magazine at its $4 cover price as a fundraiser for local political work. This program is especially important in smaller towns and areas with less access to political materials. Activists. You can get copies of Left Turn from our members. If there isn't a Left Turn local in your area, we are always looking for new people to serve as a distribution contact.
